Reimagining cities through human experience, behaviour & well being

If cities ultimately exist for people, why is human psychology not more central to the way we understand, plan, and design urban environments?

Why Urban Psychology Matters

Cities shape our thoughts, emotions, behaviour and wellbeing every day. Yet, planning and design have traditionally overlooked the human mind.

We exist to change that.

Our mental health is shaped by our environments.

Our behaviour is influenced by urban systems.

Our experience is affected by how cities are designed.

Our resilience depends on inclusive and adaptive cities.

Our futures require psychology-informed solutions.

UBC - Urban Behaviour Collective

The Urban Behaviour Collective is a Community of Practice implemented under the Centre for Urban Psychology (CUP) to advance research, knowledge exchange, and practical applications in urban psychology and behavioural urbanism. It serves as a platform for academics, practitioners, policymakers, and urban designers to explore the intersection of human behaviour, mental well-being, and urban environments.
Through collaborative research, professional development, and applied projects, the Collective aims to foster data-driven, human-centered urban solutions that enhance the psychological and behavioral dynamics of cities.
